Year Six - 2024-2025

 

 

Hello and welcome to the Year 6 page! This is where you will find all the information you need to know about what we will be doing in Year 6 this year. There is so much to look forward to this year, including: being stretched and challenged, an exciting curriculum, trips, assemblies and an end of year production. Your last year at St Saviour is going to be brilliant!

 

Remember it's really important to be at school every day, on time and ready to learn.

Upcoming Dates this Term

September:

Monday 9th – Orienteering Day

Monday 23rd - Parents Drop in Evening 3.30-5.30pm

 

October:

Friday 4th Disco – 6-7.15pm for KS2

Friday 11th October- Harvest Service in Church 9.15am

Monday 21st October- Maya workshop with VR (full day)

Friday 25th – Half Term starts

 

November:

Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th – Parents Evening 3-6.30 and 3-5.30pm

Friday 29th – Christmas Fayre

 

December:

 Tuesday 3rd December- Trip to the Octagon to see Jungle Book (am)

Friday 6th - Class 6 Christmas/Advent assembly to parents 9am

Friday 13th – Christmas Dinner Day

Tuesday 17th – Christmas Party Day

Thursday 19th – Christmas Service 9.15am

 

Overview for the Year

Class Teacher: Mrs Horrobin

HLTA: Mrs Thornley

Special Needs Assistants: Mrs Whittenbury-Brookes, Miss Atherton

 

PE days: Wednesday and Friday- PE kit must be worn TO school on both of these days. PE pumps must be left at school in bag, for gymnastics lessons on Friday.

Home Learning Expectations: Children are expected to practise core skills every week:

  • Reading - ideally daily, but at least 3 times a week. Books will be changed according to the day written on the front of their reading record.

  • Embedding multiplication and division facts, up to 12x12, recalled in any order at speed (Sumdog, own practise, times tables book)

  • In Year 6, homework takes the form of English or Maths, occasionally topic. Every Friday, the children will be given their homework with instructions. This should be completed and handed back by the following Wednesday.

  • Children should learn their spellings sent home every Monday, to be tested the following Monday.
